If the implementation of this is anything like their work in Blaster Master Zero the additional characters should come with their own style and really help differentiate the feel of each playthrough. Confirmed to be first up is Ekoro from their Gal*Gun series, but several more are in the works.
Inti Creates also plans to follow up the launch of Burst with additional characters to be added over time. Inti Creates claim these can be used in ‘custom shots’ but whether they mean as images in the Switch hardware based screenshot function or just an ingame image creator is not yet known, but this will definitely become clearer once the titles is released. Its an experience more than a full-fledged game, a taste of what Inti Creates is. Clocking in at over 100 in number, these images feature a variety of playable character, enemies bosses and items in all their 8bit glory. Its not incredibly difficult, but its not necessarily meant to be, either. The feature that perhaps will extend the life of the game the most are the hidden pixel image collectibles. Gamers are encouraged to play through levels multiple times in order to achieve the variety of rewards on offer, as only one prize out of several can be chosen per level completion. There are a wide range of power ups for you to collect through the game, with some being well hidden in the levels (HD Rumble will help you to locate these once the dowsing ability has been unlocked in game) while others will be unlocked upon completing levels. Game length too looks strong with this title thanks to a wealth of unlockables and hidden secrets. A customisation system with a wealth of options allows you to create new loadouts and grants the ability to change the attributes of a multitude of attacks and really looks to help make the characters play how you want it too. The ‘Burst’ system brings enhanced combat strategy in to the fold as you aim to finish off enemies at close range to rack up high scores and to keep your combo going. Mighty Gunvolt Burst retains the 2D action gameplay with run and gun action followed up by end of level boss fights (this time in the form of the other 8 Mighty units from Might No 9) but kicks it up a notch with improved visuals, expanded game length and crucially, a lot more depth.
